Wendell R. Main

Retired county auditor & Judge

He was born Feb. 4, 1912, in Delaware County, to Frank and Della (Ufferman) Main. On Oct. 22, 1940, in Bucyrus, he married Barbara Alice Lee, and died February 11, 2000.

Mr. Main, who formerly worked as the salvage superintendent at Whirlpool in Clyde, served as the Seneca County Auditor from 1962 until he retired in 1981. He also served as precinct judge for the Village of Republic.

A member of Washington Street United Methodist Church, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada and spent summers at his cottage in Northern Ontario.

He also was a member of the Allied Masonic Degrees Firelands Council 94, Sovereign Master Firelands, Tall Cedars of Lebanon North Central Forest 170 and a 50-year member of the following: Tiffin Lodge 77, Seneca Chapter 42 and Clinton Council 47.

Also a member of Demolay Commandery 9, a Knight of York Cross of Honor, a past patron of Tiffin Chapter 189 Order Eastern Star and the Demolay Legion of Honor, he served as past district deputy grand master and past district educational officer of the 15th Masonic District.

He also was a member of Zenobia Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. of Toledo, past president and charter member of the Crusaders Unit of Toledo; member of the Scottish Rite-Valley of Toledo 32; an honorary member of the Hildreth Lodge 165-Republic; Science Lodge 50-Sandusky; Ely Lodge 424-Vermillion and Elk Lake Lodge of Ontario, Canada.
